Ambient temperature
The ambient temperature is the mean value of the air surrounding the solenoid, measured at different places.

Core
The core is the part of the solenoid moved or held by the magnetic field.

Current hysteresis
The current hysteresis is the difference between the current values of an upstream and downstream magnetised solenoid (current rising up to the rated current and then dropping back to zero), related to the constant stroke and constant magnetic force. The value quoted in the documentation represents the maximum difference between the upward and downward directed curve and is quoted as a percentage of the rated current.

Insulation class
The allocation of insulation materials to a certain temperature limit.

Magnetic force hysteresis
The magnetic force hysteresis is the difference between the magnetic force in the direction of the stroke and the complete nominal stroke in the opposite direction, which emerges at a constant current value (quoted as a percentage of the nominal magnetic force at the rated current).

Operating state temperature
Excess temperature established according to VDE 0580 plus the reference temperature. If nothing else is stated, the reference temperature is 35 oC.

Stroke
The stroke is the path of the core from its initial to its final position.

Work, magnetic work
The magnetic work is the electric energy turned into mechanical work during the core movement.
